Busy at work, and I log back in to see a number of threads...

You all are no doubt tired of my old timer biases, so just to set the record straight, if we divide the Dead into five completely arbitrary time periods, which do you prefer?

Early: 65-67
Best: 68-70
Mid: 71-77
Late: 78-87
Dead late: 88-95

Roll call and a vote: I go first with a vote for 'best'; do I predict rightly that the resounding sentiment will be for 'mid?'

Let me know, and pardon the desire on my part to continue kicking this theme ('which do you like best?') around...I completely understand if you just ignore this request.

William Tell:
..on taking lead from our Homeland Security to complicate confuse the rational amongst you:

"Mid" = as only Billy on drums: 2/19/71 - 10/20/74
1976: stand-alone year
1977 - 2/1979: Mickey back, Keith and Donna
4/1979 - 7/1990: the Brent years
1990 > 1995: now I'm too confused to break it down by with Hornsy, etc., etc.

I'm going with "Mid" and 1976 as my favs giving the "Mid" years the advantage.

Good--yes, I am sure folks are tired of my ceaseless efforts to understand the tastes we all exhibit vis a vis the Dead, and don't get me wrong--I love it all but realize there is something behind why I 'gave up' on most everything post 71 even though it's what I experienced (I find this rare--most go for what they lived with; I only saw one show prior to 71, as a kid in GG Park, and didn't know enough to appreciate it).

In essence, I am trying to answer for myself, what makes me keep putting on the repetitious, redundant, predictable 68 or 69 show? And conversely, what drives you all to do otherwise with 70s material.

I am finding great joy in those mid 70s shows--thanks for putting up with a newbie on a mission and for helping me expand.

Using the ashes scoring system, I'll take:

Mid - 71 > 74
Primal - 65 > 71
M,K & D - 77 > 79
all others

See, if you goto my recent thread it talks about the "polls" you can do with newer forum layouts.

Anyways I undoubtedly will go with 71-77.. but I'd rather jump off a tall building if that was the only years I could listen to for the rest of my life :X

I love the mid-stuff too, just right now more into WT's preferred era. Actually, what i'd like is for WT to give us an anecdote/memory from his show-going years, something to put it all in perspective. Love that sorta stuff.
